WorkbookAPI

Excel Data Table too slow for your scenarios?

WorkbookAPI checks your Excel scenario model in the browser for free, with bulk runs of its formulas for sensitivity or Monte Carlo analysis planned for early access. Waiting for the workbook blocks the analysis.

One calculation works. Repeating it takes too long.

An analyst, actuary, or finance team may need many combinations of assumptions. A what-if Data Table or VBA loop repeats the same model. Changing the assumptions starts the wait again.

Why the usual options hurt

Rewriting the model creates another set of formulas to maintain. Running Excel on a server adds job management. Copying inputs and outputs by hand makes a large sensitivity run hard to repeat.

How it works with WorkbookAPI

Start with the workbook's formula-based calculation, separate from the Data Table or VBA loop. Drop the workbook into the free browser check.

See which formulas compute exactly like Excel for the saved inputs. Recalculate and save in Excel before checking.

Today, only the browser check is live. Bulk scenarios are planned for early access: thousands of input sets in one request. Join the waitlist on the home page.

The planned workflow will recalculate the model for each input set. It will not execute the existing Data Table or VBA loop. The analyst keeps the model in Excel. Updating the workbook will update the scenario calculation.

An analyst could send explicit assumption pairs instead of building a what-if Data Table.

For Monte Carlo, sampled assumptions would be input sets. Sampling and analysis are separate from the planned bulk calculation.

What is not supported

Macros/VBA, Power Query, pivot tables, what-if data tables, and links to other workbooks are not supported. Strict Open XML files are also unsupported. The report flags them.

FAQ

Will WorkbookAPI run my existing what-if Data Table?

No. What-if data tables are unsupported and flagged in the report. The planned bulk workflow will recalculate the underlying formulas for explicit input sets.

Can I use it for Monte Carlo simulation?

Bulk calculation is planned. You would supply sampled input sets and analyze the returned outputs. The browser check compares the workbook's saved input case.

Will it run my VBA scenario loop faster?

No. Macros and VBA are not executed. Check the formula-based model separately. The planned bulk workflow will replace repeated input changes, not run the loop.

Does my scenario workbook leave my browser during the check?

No. The workbook never leaves your browser during the check. Only anonymous totals are counted, never values, formulas, or file names.
